Intro to Tango Class Notes |
|
|
1. History of Tango (Pleae refer to Resource section)
2. Walk excercise:
Rule 1 - All figures in the Level 1 are Right Left Right Left... walking counterclockwise the dance floor. Rule 2 - Unlike any other dancing, there is no preset timing (i.e. No Slows and Quicks). Rule 3 - The Leader leads and Follower follows (i.e. The leader can lead whatever he wants). Rule 4 - Although music is 4/4, there is absolutely no need of start dancing on count 1. Rule 5 - Unlike Ballroom, a man cannot make a mistake as long as his partner can walk along with him. Be confident!
3. Speed: The slower the dancing, the more sensual the tango looks. It takes knowing just a few figures to complete 3 minutes of music.
